Another Barber from the "new" old fairgound!
Hi Ladies and Gents, got out again today for about two hours. My dad wanted to go along this time so he picked me up and we headed out.The usual ribbing back and forth about getting in there with his Whites and pulling up the good stuff that I can't reach with that old Fisher, LOL, I told him we'll see about that I think old Hoagie (my machine) is up to the challenge. We weren't having much luck in the area most of the coins came from so we headed down into the little strip of woods between the airstrip and the graveyard where I found a couple wheats and a barber before. I got a crazy signal like a big piece of iron and after scanning it a few times over I noticed there was a small whoop tone mixed in.Something told me I needed to dig. I cut a big plug and started to pry it up out of the earth and I heard the unmistakable sound of my shovel scraping Iron, like a can ripping,I knew it I said to myself, just junk.I pulled it out and rechecked the hole, nothing. Then I checked the plug, wow, got a nice signal broke the plug open and out popped a 1911 Barber dime!!Checked the plug again and got a scratchy signal and it was a nail and then another that was all.I had a hard time believing that I picked that out of all that junk.Well it was fun and I did get a wheatie too about unidentifiable and the 1917 and 1919 wheats are from yesterday. My dad just got some clad so of course I had to poke fun at him and his superior technology. Thanks for reading and HH, Bootstrap
