This field is a low priority one but as Dad was away, it was the closest field to cycle to, plus it throws up the odd surprise like the Henry I (Banner coin). So as miss most of the bad weather, I was out hunting by 08:30 & finished 5.5 hours later when the heavy windy showers started.
I tried hard to get a hammered but wasn't to be
5 Scrappy Roman Coins including a silver plated forgery
Part of a print block which I pictured with other bits I found a few years ago.
1 Lead Token
14th C Buckle
Broken Medieval Spur Buckle & Plate
17th C 'seal top' spoon handle piece
My first tear-dropped shaped Medieval Bell - like the jester type :laughing7:
Find of the day was part of a 15th C Chafing Dish Handle, first one I have found. Did some research & can't find any on the UKDFD & only 1 on the PAS:
http://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/230705
Mine is far more complete, didn't realise it was such a rare find when I got it :headbang:

Re: Another Barley Stubble Field...

Nice haul, Crusader! I wish we could find that many buttons in one hunt here!

Re: Another Barley Stubble Field...

You did well to get that much time in before the rain. I wouldn't have liked to be in the middle of a field in what just came down here :o

I should get out next weekend ;D

Thanks, I remember it well, as I remember thinking I hadn't got one. (Jester bit was a joke but had no idea they were on horses) :icon_thumright:

Drum roll please.......The North is getting ready to come out of hibernation 8)

I did get caught out by one shower when at the top of the slope & the mac & bike were at the bottom ::) Other than that I got home just as it chucked it down. Its a good place to see the weather coming in, although the last system missed me until it decided to do a 90 degree wind change & chase me home :laughing9:

Re: Another Barley Stubble Field...

Wow, that's 'low priority'? Nice stuff! Always appreciate your posts Crusader. Cheers.

UPDATE:

Dad had some time this evening & spent 45 minutes on the field I was on, plus tried another Barley Field elsewhere (1 Hour). Didn't get much, but we must be moving closer to the big one  :D
Lead Token - J.S
Geo Shoe Buckle guts
Geo Furniture Decor
Coppers & bits...

It seems that his father recovered from the knee ...
You know these token JP ?...... seen hunting the token for other detectors in the UK, but not what it was.

Even though you didn't hit the big one yet, looks like this spot kept you both busy. I think I speak for a lot of us here in that I am so impressed with your knowledge of so many different relics from so many different eras. :icon_thumleft: How many years have you and Cru' dad been detecting?

Great finds yesterday Cru, even if you were a one-man show! :laughing7:

I love the look of the 15th century chafing dish handle! :notworthy:

Can you tell me . . . is this an ink pot? :icon_scratch:

Cheers,
Dave
