Hunted my new colonial beach spot again today. Found lots of lead, some horse tack, a few early buckles and I think another William III copper. Also found cob #3 from here and with a lot of meat still on the bone too for once:headbang: Based on the E assayer mark and the other finds from this site, I would say this is a Potosi 1 real from the late 17th century that was cut to half real size. Also found the out of place 1917 Walker. Ill gladly take it as it is only my third silver half ever

I think you found that Spanish galleon you had mentioned.
The details on that cob are amazing. Very nice.
Those buckles aren't too shabby either.
I went to my old cob site today, after seeing yours last night. I kept thinking I would get lucky, but that never happened.
You east coast guys are kickin butt. Cant wait to see what you find next.

Yeah the details and quality of the strike are far better than most. Like very few I can find online actually. Too bad it was cut but pretty common it seems

What can I say.... 3 cobs in 2 days is absolutely phenomenal. I'm sure you'll get back there soon and dig every signal. Congratulations and good luck on your future hunts! :occasion14:

Great strike on that cob! And a couple of beauty buckles. I have the match to the one on the right

Were the cobs coins that were cut up by ordinary people or were cobs pieces of silver cut up by the mint then stamped? I'm learning. I never even heard of a cob until I came to this forum. Gary

Cobs may of been clipped after hammering to achieve proper weight. I have at least one cob that was definitely clipped after leaving the mint. No two are alike though and they are rarely found at proper weight
