New Jersey Copper, what does you other side look like?
 

U can barely see the horse but u can read it the words under a light. Can't seem to be able to take a decent pic.

Try shining a flashlight almost directly from the side of the coin, and then taking a pic while the flashlight is casting strong shadows from the details on the coin.
 

Yes it is a NJ copper, could you please take a head on shot with hopefully less reflection, may get the reverse ID,(angled shots distort the spacing making variety ID more difficult) could you PM me the state and county found in for my NJ survey, Thanks.

ADDED: I suspect it is a 1787 Maris 48-g variety, very common variety. Shame on the condition, but at least identifiable.... I base the g reverse on the position of the S and U in relation to the distance to the shield.
