Hello everyone,
First I would like to thank Don for confirming i.d. on my conn. copper.
I have posted another, this one I cannot match up to anything in my book,
it is close to many but there seems to be a small difference every time I
think I found it. It is driving me batty trying to figure these things out.
The book I have is just from a sale,so I do not know if it contains all variations
or not.(The book is Rosa Americana, ltd. fixed price list number 18.) So once
again I will be a pain in the neck and call upon the experts for help. If anyone
could help me out with this i.d. or at least point me in the right direction I
would appreciate it very,very much.
P.S. the snow is melting fast, cannot wait to get digging and see what awaits
discovery this year.
Thank you for looking and good luck to everybody this metal detecting season.

Thanks everybody. Lucky, the area I live,(Mohawk valley, central N.Y.) is rich in revolutionary war
history. Quite a few fort sights and such. Finding the ones that are gone without a trace is the ticket

I am not 100% sure, but compare the date with the
low 1 and the high 7 on the first coin on the page.

Nope, not a M33.6-KK, differences on the Reverse, it is a Miller 33, but not a KK reverse, the arm holding the branch is aligned differently for one difference, also it is not a 33.6 Obverse, the star is closer to the forehead and hairline on the found coin.

May look at this tomorrow, done for the day.

Quite a bit of detail on your Conn.'s. Wish I could find ones with detail like that!

Barry, think I have the variety attribution, finally. The dang 33 series has soooo many varieties that without looking at plates often, there is noway of quickly narrowing down the specific variety, I had to go one Obv variety at a time and if I saw one close to yours, I would then look to see if any reverses had the Brittania arm holding the branch in the right position and the branch having the same leaves and being next to the letter E and :

Finally I got one that I am 95% certain is correct, later today if no one verifies I will ask my CT copper buddy to verify, not ID, but to verify I was correct or not. :)

I think it is a 1787 Miller 33.38-Z.1 Rarity 5 or 6 depending on who is rating. I hope this is correct, and will double and triple check later today after my hunt.

For those who do not know or realize the importance of why people want to know the exact variety of a State Copper, well, some are very valuable and new varieties are found every so often and can be worth hundreds, if not in the thousands if in decent shape coming from the ground, although the vast majority will be worth much less.

Anyway, Barry's coin being a 1787 year, well that year has the most varieties, at least 241! Some are common, most are scarce but some are very rare and some unique, and there is a big difference in value.

So finding the right variety out of 241 can be challenging at times and this one was for me at least. Glad it ended up not be a common variety and it being off center helps a bit, but not always, rather common back then to not be centered.

So, congrats to Barry on another nice CT copper and again, seeing as many details as possible is critical in being able to identify the variety, thus knowing whether you have a more valuable one or not.......
