on my way back to my truck
disappointed I Had No Nickels today
and Thinking this was strange,
I got a Real Bad signal about 3 Feet from my truck.

The Tone said Copper coin
the Number said Probably trash

So I started Digging.

at 5 Inches still no Signal with my Probe
So I Re pinpointed & Still there but Moved to the right
4 Inches. at 5 Inches deep
I Think because Still no Signal
with My Probe
it must be a Nail Between the 2 Holes

So I start widening & Digging deeper.

at about 6 Inches I Get a sharp tone in the
bottom of the right hole that sounds
solid so i go get my long trawel
& Force it down & Pop out another
inch & A half of dirt
recheck & Get a Great signal
with my Probe reach in
Pull it out and see a Nickel size coin

Was 7 1/2" Deep I Measured.

This is what I first saw. ;D

Yes I Nailed it with my Scoop :P

For Me this is 2 Firsts.

The First time I Broke into the 1800's at this
Park

And the First Shield Nickel I Ever Found.

99% Sure it's 1868

Not the First Time My Best find was Last Minute Next to My Vehicle

Thanks For Looking.

Cool finds Jeff! Love the nickle and isn't it funny how many times we've found stuff going back to our vehicles?

HH,
Moon

Pretty cool finds :icon_sunny:

I have yet to find a shield nickel (that's a real neat looking coin).

Finding good stuff a the end of a hunt appear to be rather common. Have had same experience and seen others posting same. Is it because you're swinging the detector a different more relaxed way ??? Provided that the good target is in the ground on the end of the hunt ;D

My V's didn't come out that nice.

That's a sweet find Jeff. The good ones always come when you least expect it...and sometimes right by the vehicle :laughing7:

Yea We were Just talking Tone ID's VS Tesero Earlier

& I Said it's Fun Knowing what it Could be Before You dig

& Even better when you ID it as Trash

& Are surprised when you dig it and it's a cool Item. ;D

about an Hour later that pops out :D

WTG, Jeff :icon_thumright: Gotta love those last split second beeps before leaving. Great find on the shield nickel, and the unusual pin. Hopefully someone can ID that pin better.

 RR

HaHa Yes You Did

Only took about 40 Years :tongue3:

I see they are 75% copper

I guess that's why the High tone & Low Number

Hey Jeff.......that nickel sure looks good in the pics, Congrats again on that one. It was a swell day to play in the dirt with you and Ed. I don't know if it's the detecting or taking breaks that is just so much better when you have friends along........LOL......either way it was fun.

Congrats again!!
