My buddy was using an Explorer SE today and I pulled more coins...However he did get a signal on a lawn where 2 DFX's 1 Fisher CZ-7..( i think that is right) and 1 XLT have hammered...I swung over the signal...on relic mode got not even a blip....He then proceeded to pull a 1820 large cent out of that hole...I was shocked. The difference is he has to go soooooooo much slower than I do to find the few deep coins...So I think I will keep my XLT over a EXSE.

Hard to argue with that. :)

Re: Another day at the "FLOWING" Field...

Would be sweet to find LC's like wheat pennies. ;D Guess your expectations are a little high. Still sounds like a fun time.

As for the White's / Minelab thing.....I really don't know of a better true test than my son and I daily hunting with a DFX and Explorer side by side. I have about 60 silver for the year. Nate has about 50 for the year(I have a few more hours hunting than him but not much). He has a little more clad. We have even had "clad competitions" and amazingly we always seem to come out about even. The only time he was ready to chuck his DFX was when we were in Albany, NY last year. Butch and I got a good signal about 8 inches down(Washington park). Nate comes over to check and gets nothing. In the hole were two seated dimes and a sweet barber dime! We regularly check each other's "iffy deep" signals. Sometimes I get squat and sometime he gets squat.

I have a friend who has an XLT. He went hunting with Nate and I and couldn't find any of the weat pennies/mercs that we were getting at 6-7 inches. We got a signal that we could both tell was a wheat penny. He checked and nothing. We left him with the coin. 15 minutes worth of adjustments and he could get the signal.

You guys are pumping out the coins from that place! Keep it up! It's inspiring!

Those old coins aren't easy to find, but you're producing them like crazy!

Can't wait to see what's next!

Congratulations!

Bob,
I have an XLT and hunt next to my friend who hunts with a Deleon. Neither of us find silver, but both of us have found Wheats at 6 to 7 inches. I often wonder if my XLT is missing older coins ???

My XLT doesn't appear to miss the silver, but I've read enough here to wonder what I might miss. I shouldn't let it keep me awake, though. By the way, great finds outraged!

Re: Another day at the "FLOWING" Field...

I'm not trying to divert / hijack the thread from that heavenly MD'ing site. The thread sorta started morphing / mutating itself, so I'll throw something in--right after I say that I can't even CONCEIVE of a treasure trove like outraged's Field of Dreams.

I don't know much about the XLT and MXT. I recently started running 15 KHz, using Raw VDI #'s, instead of dual-freq. Best Data with my DFX, and I'm getting deeper hits on good metal with very good target separation (using a 5.3" Eclipse coil). I also like the spread of the VDI #'s using raw, non-normalized numbers. I'm also getting a bit better depth than with either dual-freq. mode, despite the smallish 6" coil.

Jeff Foster recently came out with a book "The MXT Edge", and he's an absolute wizard. Dunno what aftermarket books and/or programs there are for the XLT, but I'd contact Jeff and ask him what experience he has with the XLT. I'd be surprised if he couldn't provide some good advice.

The point I'm meandering toward is that you shouldn't have to do 15 min. of adjustments in the field with any higher-end White's detector. Maybe (on a DFX) kick off the Autotrac so your ground balance doesn't wander due to a lot of iron in the ground, or make quick adj's to Gain or AC Sens..

Hope this helps.
