Got out tonite for another hour before more snow hits, the area i'm hunting is bare of snow, soft, and black moist soil.
I'm left to digging the whispers now, and they average about 8" deep.
Dug my first SLQ, and it was dateless, the '20 merc was in the same hole and laying directly upon the quarter.
Dug another silver war nickel too.
Two wheats, a '13 and '14. They have this green "skin" that doen't come off with a peroxide bath, but yet it will scrape off easily with a toothpick. Anyhow, thanx for lookin'.

Very nice finds. Wish the ground wasn't frozen and covered with that white stuff over here.

Nice finds!

Excuse my ignorance, but what are you listening for when you say whispers? Is it just a change in the threshold (dig everything) or is it a tweek in the tone? Does it just bounce of a good signal or all of the above? Just started this hobby last year and have heard that stated before. Obviously, unless you have really good site your not going to get shallow stuff this day and age. My earliest coin was a silver dime at about 6 inches on the MXT. Just bounced of the VDI number and changed depending on the direction of swing. Would that be the norm? I am thinkin I should slow down.

Input appreciated!

I'm working this site very slow now, which is a change from what I was used to with my dfx which i moved alot faster....sometimes I will get a signal from one direction that will repeat depending on the angle, I like to at least get it from both directions.
I didn't have a strong signal on the quarter and dime in the hole, and I believe they were on their sides flat. I don't use VDI #'s with this machine, but I watch a cursor. The cursor tends to bounce a bit on my silver finds at 8" deep. In other words, I'm not getting a solid "hit" at that depth, but I tend to dig a repeatable signal. Hope that helps, as I'm still new to this! FFD

awesome finds! i hope i ind a SLQ someday :D

Wow, what a a haul!! Those SLQ's are hard to come by, at least for me!! Way to go. HH Dan

Great score on the silvers FFD  I love finding them silvers.

Very Nice indeed. Congrtas on the SLQ. Is there really unfrozen ground in Southern Michigan? She's hard as a rock here near Mt. Pleasant, deep frost. It'll be a few weeks yet I'm sure.
