Thanks for posting that, Steve.

May Bob rest in peace, he was a good man who did much to serve the people of AZ. I remember the bombing of Don Bolles and how upset everyone was to have something like that happen in our town. It was good to have a man like Bob Corbin at the helm to put a stop to that kind of thing, as well as some other dirty political shenanigans that unfortunately have a long history in AZ. I think he changed AZ for the better. It cost him, but he did what was right and slept well at night.

My condolences go to the surviving Corbin family. Bob lived his life well and we should all take a moment to honor such a man AND to know, you can still do the right things in life regardless of all the pressures of this World. Bob I'm sure is running some kind of 'Office' position up there in Heaven right now. :coffee2:

Bob & my dad did a lot together back in the day. I never met him, he did call me when my dad passed.

Tom Van 1937-2026

Sadly, I received verification yesterday that another Dutch Hunter has passed away. My friend Tom Van Slambrouck died March 10th 2026. Also known as Tom Van, The Treasure Man. Tom had a full life. At one point, he served as an Honor Guard at Arlington Cemetery. Later, he became a Detroit Police Officer for 13 years. Tom moved out here to Arizona in the 70s and soon found his calling with the Superstition Mountains and the Lost Dutchman. Tom spent decades going into the mountains and formulating his stories. Some are tall tales while others appear to be actual history. Sites like the Spiral Staircase and Bluff Springs Mountain were his favorites. Late in life he would join us at the Dutch Rendezvous speaking about Jesuit Treasures and Egyptian artifacts in the Grand Canyon. Tom was awarded the 32nd Treasure Hunter of the Year award in 2024. Late last year his daughter removed him from his trailer and wouldn’t allow any contact with him. The last time I saw Tom was on November 5, 2025, and I handed him a flyer for the upcoming Dutch Rendezvous. He joins his long-time friend Tree (Alan Tree) and, hopefully, I can make them both proud in continuing their work.

Sorry to hear that Mr. Tom Van Slambrouck is no longer with us, my most sincere condolences to all his family and friends. Good friends are hard to find, and even harder to lose.
