Got permission to detect a church, thank God! :) Found my 1st Barber Quarter, complete with a nice scratch! 3.5-4 hour hunting time. Less than 2 months into detecting and I'm already wanting to upgrade to a deeper silver machine! Love the hobby. HH!

Congrats on your first Barber Quarter :icon_thumleft:

I remember when I found my first. . . I was so excited I couldn't have cared less if I dug pull tabs the rest of the week.

Sure do!! Started detecting with the mindset of digging it all looking for that gold, but I'm starting to enjoy coin hunting quite a bit so I'm highly considering getting an explorer or etrac for the silver hunting! :)

Congratualtions on the nice silver coin! :occasion14:

IMHO: You can get a used Minelab Explorer II or SE without breaking the bank, both of these machine love silver. There are many other choices and selecting a new machine(s) can be a fun process...enjoy!

I will say the Garrett AT Gold is a very good machine and will find many keepers for you.

Yep been looking for a bit already, came down to cz or minelab and would go with the minelab if I do get one. Prof is right used explorer is a good option because won't break the bank, too bad I missed out on some good etrac deals that came up recently. I also do have the mindset of wanting to keep seeing what the AT Gold can do on the silvers but I just know that better depth can be had, especially on the silver dimes. Tomorrow is a new day though to find the silvers with the Gold! I've mostly been using the bigger coil, so tomorrow I'll try the smaller coil and maybe pinpointing those deeper faint targets will be easier.

Congrats on your first Barber Quarter. You will not go wrong with either the Minelab Explorer, or the Fisher CZ. I use both machines depending on where I will be detecting. I liked the CZ5 so much, that I found a great deal on a used one last year and bought it as a backup to my first one. I will use the Minelab in parks and yards, while I use the CZ5's while in the fields.
