I seem to be on a button finding streak. I wish it were silver or gold coins. I found this a few feet from the last button I posted. It was not as deep, but still about 6 inches down. It looks like it has some gilt, but is more modern. It has Rice Montgomery with stars in between. It is funny because I found it in Montgomery, Alabama. I thought it may have something to do with the city. A company or something? Or maybe nothing at all to do with Montgomery, AL. I know the button experts are good, but can you figure this one out?

I think it's an overall stud. 20th century, but you'd have to check to see which decade(s) they were used.

Agree. Work clothing button/stud.

I found a reference or two about Alexander Rice's store in Montgomery in the early 20th C.
