Well, my buddy and I hit it last weekend, and hit it hard! I love days when you find something completely and totally unexpected. We've hit this old home site a couple times, and coins we pull up are from the late 19th century, through the 30's. Last dig of the day? 1699 William III copper half penny. He beeped it with his Tesoro, I confirmed with the M6, and we dug a deep hole. 3 inches of soft stuff, followed by a layer of golf ball sized rocks, and then another 3-4 inches of dirt and out popped the large penny! Deep quarter signal on the M6. I thought we were too deep for a coin...

It's very humbling finding a coin that predates the known activity on a property by 200 years. Breaking into the 1600's is a hell of a feat, too.

Nice work Andy! Nice 1916 merc to boot. Always exciting - Still looking for that D!

My finds included a EF detail 1879 Indian Head. Super sharp coin! Taking an olive oil bath... Pulled another merc, a V, and a couple buffs. Lots of wheat!

Wow what a bunch of nice finds.

Love the "C" clamp and the old door plate!

Nice hunt and finds... Congrats :icon_thumright:

A great assortment of finds. Two of them caught my attention. One is the badge that says Special. Other than special, it is not something I am able to read. What does it say? It looks a little like a toy badge.
The other one that caught my attention was the token. Or it appears to be a token. It is the one that is octagonal and has 4 words abbreviated with the letters being E. H. U. V. My guess is that the reverse side is blank. Shed a little light on it and let us know if has anything on the reverse. I follow tokens and prefer them to coins. Who knows, it may be a rare one and worth a fair amount of money.

really an excellent hunt, looks like a Naval Academy button, you being from MD.....lol nice going

Hello Treasureneters! I'm new here so bear with me. I'm the "Andy" mentioned at the top in DFW_THer's original post at the top. Thanks for your interest in our finds - it was quite a day. My son the musician tells me the c-clamp is actually a capo - clamps to the neck of a guitar or banjo to change the tuning. Any guitar folks out there to confirm?
To answer Bonds questions, the token is single sided, and I believe the letters are F.H.U.V. A Google search turned up nothing. Any thoughts anyone?
Finally, the badge - it is marked "SPECIAL POLICE". See attached photos. I included a ruler for scale. Thanks for your interest! JR token and badge1.webptoken and badge2.webpIMG_0281.webp

Great finds! I am curious what type of site this is. Private home, woods, park, etc?
