What a rollercoaster day! Started out with DiggerBug picking me up this morning. We headed out to our new hunting buddies place to check out what she had been finding on her property. Got there, hunted a few minutes, got trampled by the horse, (I'm OK..and so is the detector)
,recovered quickly
and went to the front to hunt for a couple of lost jewelry items. Had hunted about an hour and Charlie calls and wants me to go to the dr.'s with him.
So...long story short, I was feeling sorry for myself cause I had to leave and spend the rest of a perfect afternoon in the dr.'s office. Finally got home and decided to go across the road and hunt a spot that I had been working on. I had found this on an old map from the late 1800's and had spent a few minutes hunting there in September, but it was so hot then, I didn't stay long. I did find the pottery pieces and was satisfied that I had found the right spot.
The map had shown two structures and I had found the first early in the year. Lots of horseshoes and nails and that's where I had found my first NC Confederate button.
Had been there about an hour and found odds and ends, but nothing exciting. Finally got a great signal (74 on the MXT) and dug four inches. Out pops the button! It's REALLY dirty and I didn't know FOR SURE what it was, but after finding the first one, I had a feeling that I had found another. The soil here (if you can call it that) is clay. Turns everything red and doesn't want to come off easily. I probably should have waited to clean it up better before I took the pics, but I was so excited at finding it, I wanted to share.
The next signal was a tiny back of a button and still has the shank. The rest of the hunt was the normal stuff. I feel much better now.
I rinsed the button with water and used a soft toothbrush for a minute. I thought it was neat to have a spot of shiny on the back!!
Hope you all have a great weekend!!! Find something good!!!
