Hey everyone,

Been getting out again in the evenings here and there for a hr or 2. The last few hunts have been slow. But I did manage to pull up some nice coins while I was out. I continue to hunt this old park when I am pressed for time. It is close to home.

I've been hitting this place for 5 straight yrs and still can't clean it out. I see other hunters hunting the place with Diff units. None of them are finding coins except for me. They are all deep and take true skill to listen for them.

I managed a really nice 1868 2 center the other evening while there. The surface was loaded with tabs but I had the stock coil on and was able to seperate this coin from the trash. It was found behind a cabin that dates back to 1813.

I also pulled a really nice barber quarter a 1908 D while there. It is amazing what the thaw can do to a good site. You just can't clean a good area out. I also found three indians 1887 1890 and a 1894. Plus a 1922 pgh railways token and a no date buff. Also a 1902 barber dime.

I also found a really cool relic. I beleive it to be a turn of the century sugar cube tong. Correct me if I am wrong. It says on it Reymers. I have had no luck with info on this piece. It has a sheild on it that looks like the one's they put on our bridges here in pittsburgh. It also has a cabin on each side. Pretty cool find and it's amazing it didn't get broken. I use a shovel to dig.

I usually don't post until I have more. But these are some decent diggs and I plan to get more over the weekend. Thanks alot for looking everyone.

HH Jer

Real nice 2 cent piece and barber quarter!

Thanks alot everyone,

I knew as soon as I found the 2 center it would clean great. You can tell after many of old coin finds what will clean well and what won't.

I gave this coin a very short bath in peroxide. Just a 8 or 10 second warm up in the mic. Within a hr I had the coin done. Take a tooth pic and dull the tip of it down by pushing it down on the table. They are to sharp to clean with when new.

Gently in a circular motion scrap the coin from the outside to the inside. If you don't do it this way you will build dirt up on the rim and it is very hard to get off without breaking the rims on the coin. Once all the dirt is removed rince with water let dry and put it in extra virgin olive oil to soak for awhile. The longer they stay in the oil the better they look.

Repeat this process on more stubborn coins. You may have to boil them for about 20 to 25 seconds depending on how ruff the coin is. Just keep repeating the steps. On really bad coins after they have been stripped of there dirt. I'll use a metal polish to even them out. Just common type old coins though.

Thanks Rob for the info. I was also leaning towards some kind of candy or chocolate tongs also. Have a good season to man.

Thanks again everyone,

HH Jer
