Not quite sure what to call this. I found this today while walking a creek in southern Ohio. It is stone but I have no idea if this is an artifact, or what. Ideas/suggestions are appreciated ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1458503353.325546.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1458503368.393382.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1458503383.327746.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1458503402.630858.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1458503429.434379.webp

The scars created by the drilling/abrasion technique used can only be seen about 1/4 inch going into the hole if that makes any sense. The stone itself is not a symmetrical circle. It looks like it would have used a river cane to produce the hole which is a fraction bigger on side than the other. Diameter of hole is about 1". I did some research at the local museum on drilling techniques and found several examples of a drilling technique similar to the hole in the stone I found. Hopefully the pictures help! take it to THAT museum for a look see.

I have no idea what is, but if you look at the second picture one way it looks

like it has a groove cut into it, look at a different way, then you see ridge the way it normal is.

thanks for posting, marion

thanks for posting, its a cool find, will be interesting to know what it turns out to be

With the seam running around the middle I would say Historical made. Maybe late 1800- early1900s Looks to of fit into something else. Pretty cool whatever it is.
