Bird feeder for those bird seed balls.

Really no idea, but that is a super cool item.

How big is it, does it work without issues still, how heavy is it.
 

Maybe something for keeping a hot coal in for the next fire?

It's a yarn or twine ball holder, there was one like it in my great grandparents fish market for the twine to tie bundles with. I don't have a good idea of age on it though, actually I'm kind of surprised I recognized it, they and the market have been gone nearly 40 years now

Looks like it is meant to hang. Could be tea ball.

That is an original Polish toilet float ball. It failed miserably, for some reason.
 

Nola Ken definitely correct. My grandmother had one and I still remember it.
