Any idea on what this is?

Found this in an area where we have been finding numerous buttons as well as a 1780 1R King Charles coin. Any help will be greatly aprreciated!

Not knowing what it is made of, my first guess is a bell clapper.

What does the bottom look like

not sure about the metal, it is not magnetic. It's hollow with a small hole on edge around the small opening

Have found similar. Could be the pommel end of a sword. The small hole would be where the end of the guard would insert. Found a brass one years ago that was readily identified as the pommel from a British short sword.

It also looks like it might belong on a loom (or something else that needs to guide thread/wire).
