Found this today in the middle of the woods in some conservation land. It is brass or copper, weighs a whopping 63 grams, and is 2 7/8" across. The thing on the back isn't even, as one side is a bit higher than the other. It was all by itself, resembles some sort of big buckle or button but it's BIG for that. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Also found an 1837 Van Buren metallic currency token. Not a real coin, but pretty cool just the same.

Don't know... but you should post this also on 'What Is It?' if you have no luck on this thread.

The first one is a bridle rosette from horse tack.

Thank you! I had a feeling it was something to do with saddlery based on the wide flat gap for something like that to slide through. I appreciate the lightning response time!

Nice token! Might not be money but it's way cooler than a largie in my opinion!

Thank you!
I've dug two largie's so far, and they are very cool... but something about this makes it a little more unique, so I agree with you!

Certainly would depend on the coin picking favorites but I also like tokens over most coins! Nice finds!

Nice!!! Congrats!!!!

nice rossette and older tokens are usually rarer to find than copper coins - i got a few "hardtimes" tokens that are cool
will be heading to the cape this sunday for a few days :icon_thumright:

Yes, a Rosette for horse tack.
