I have one similar to yours, most probably from the mid 1860s. I dug mine in an area that produced a few mid 1800 coins and tokens.

I have seen a lot of speculation but haven't heard any confirmed data behind these. I have heard they were "railroad tokens" and the numbers correspond to depots on a line. I have found one in the past and it was in a depot town, so who knows, maybe it's true.

Sounds plausible, train runs about 50 yards from where I found it.
 

I found a similar one with a different number on it and was told it was a slot machine token from the early 1900's. :dontknow:
