I was hoping someone would be able to give me some info on this large, heavy, all metal pocket knife.
I dug it at a property up in N. Indiana a few weeks ago. The property had a school house on it in the 1830's and then a house also in the 1870's.

*I soaked the knife in vinegar for about three days to try to remove the rust*

Knife info:
*About 5 1/2" long
*Weighs over 1/2 lb.
*Single blade
*Three types of metal (blade, wood looking sides, ends).
Iron blade (see rust),
brass ends,
sides I'm not sure of what type of metal? Not rusted, no pits, and heavy like lead but not nicked at all. I tried a magnet on the sides and it did stick, but it may have been picking up the blade?

Any idea of the age of the knife?
Any specific name/type or manufacturer of this model?:dontknow:

Thanks for any help,
MM

I am no expert but gave it a go.the end caps and handle shape are unique. The case coke bottle type most closely matches as I see it.An avenue for research for sure.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I had it soaking in vinegar for about 3 days to remove the rust.
