Any luck on hiking trails??

I plan on hitting a few more in my area also. The ones I've tried so far are awfully junky. Found coins but other areas have been more productive.

I hit some popular horse riding trails and did find some coins, but as stated, metal debris a plenty. On the plus side, the trail was nice and wide and clear.

I have tried this on various occasions, but like "cudamark" and "Jay In NewKen" have said above, I too have found them to be pretty trashy and not very productive. If you do go, look for logs or rock formations along or near the trail where people might have sat to take a break, cause that is where I have found some of my finds along trails. Good Luck!!

You have to go where people have been, so yes they should in theory produce. I would look for large trees or rocks that provide shade and protection from the rain. If you run into lack of targets is when you will want to turn up the sensitivity to max. Keep a stick with you to help with checking holes for snakes and bees. Good Luck.

Like everyone else I have not had good enough luck on a hiking trail to make it worth while. I have had better luck in old parks that have been hunted 100's of times.

I have hunted hiking trails with a fair degree of success. Many of the trails in my area lead to a scenic overlook(s). The key is to find spots along but off the trail where people will stop and rest, have a picnic, enjoy the view, etc. I have not had much luck right directly on the trail itself.

Thanks for the info everyone. I've been sick these last few days so haven't really been able to go out or post. ;(. I think we'll try the trails just to test our luck. We did hit a park for about an hour last night--found newer clad and two wheats ... So when it warns up and I feel better we'll be going back to that park. It's fairly large with an old baseball field tucked away in the back.
