Hi Buck,

Galveston is pretty open. Beach parking is $8, or you can get an annual pass for $25 that is good for the beach lots and seawall parking. There is a small area called Galveston state park that is off limits.

Stewart Beach is the family beach, East Beach is the party beach. Other spots to hit are in front of the Galvez and San Luis hotels, Pleasure Pier, and the 61st st jetty where the surfers hang out.

We've had a huge flow of seaweed coming in over the last few weeks, but good items are being found.

Do people detect East Beach? It says "state beach" on my information. Is it a part of the state park?

No, East Beach is a public beach, and people detect there. The State park is a small area (less than 1/4 mile long) out on west beach near 13 mile RD.

The San Louis Pass area is also a good place to go, right before the toil bridge...
