Tell me your best, most successfuly played practical joke.
I once found a book of matches on the ground from a local gay bar. I stuck them in my coat pocket knowing a gag is there and forgot about it. After several weeks I was going to visit a mutual friend out of town with another friend who is single, never been married. When my buddy picks me up he's in a strange car. Getting in I asked about it and he had to borrow his mothers car for a few days. We went on and had a nice visit late into the night.
Upon leaving I put my coat on, hands in pockets, and realize the book of matches were still in there. My brain starts scheming.
Stopping for fuel with the driver inside the store it hit me: Plant the book of matches somewhere in mom's car for her to find. Let my buddy explain that one away!
I stuck them on the drivers side almost hidden by the floor mat....then laughed to myself as I hoped my buddy wouldn't see them first.
Eventually I forgot about it.
About two weeks later I got a call from him congratulating me for my joke then cussing me out. He said his mother went to work one day and while on lunch break took her car to the self-serv carwash...where she found the book of matches from the gay bar.
She must have connected the false dots because apparently she was so upset that she took the rest of the day off from work. He said she had him over to visit that night and asked for an explaination while tossing the matches into his hands. She was convinced her son was secretly gay and using her car to hook-up for gay sex. He had no valid explaination and couldn't talk his way out of it. It took him over a week to connect the dots and pin me down as the source.
So after his call, the next night, I went to visit his mom to tell her the truth and convince her that her son was not homosexual and I am the terrible practical joker that caused her confusion and suffering. She never told me it was a good gag but my buddy did. He said he kept the matches to pay it forward to someone else.
That was my most successful practical joke to date.
Inspire me with your practical jokes, please!
