I live in Northeast Ohio currently, where the dirt goes a few feet (or some places just a few inches) down then turns to clay. Anybody from around here done much hunting and have any idea on how deep you usually find coins? I am hoping to find coins especially from the mid 1800s to early 1900s.
The detector I have is just a bounty hunter quicksilver, I am wondering if I will be able to find many old coins. I have done some detecting at a 1920s house the last couple of days, found 6 new coins and a wheatie, but I am going to go to a 1860s house soon.
