Anyone care to be Facebook buds?

What ever trips your trigger terry,go nuts, enjoy. most likely you didnt even read the article.I could actually careless what you use to be,what are you now?By the way the article wasnt about the government and face book. But you were a private investigator.....in 1980 :laughing9:, so you know.....Right!!!!

The gooberment can tell more about you by your credit card purchases at gas stations than Facebook.

Care to put a little wager on it?

OK i think we had better cool it here or this will be froze.. Before it starts...........I am done here on this thread

Come on fellas, I'm not telling you to take a bath or your breath is bad, I'm just saying that unless you are living completely off the grid in Timbuck 4, you need to stop worrying about "what the government knows," because they already know all they need to know. If you are posting stupid stuff on the Internet and get fired, you probably didn't need the Internet to accomplish that mission. If you post on Facebook you are going to Europe for three weeks, and your house is robbed - no mystery there either, but the same thing happens when obituaries are published in the local paper, and you're at the funeral. Technology just makes it easier to be stupid, for stupid people.

I read it James, but I think it is more of a rant opinion piece than it is fact. For instance, the claim that, "..And yes, more than 70 percent of human resource professionals have denied an applicant a job offer based on what they found online..", is highly suspect. I would like to see that study, and the criteria for it, as I know many HR professionals, none of whom base their decisions on Facebook posts. The whole thing sounds like anti-corporate, anti-big brother, the sky is falling Chicken Little excrement. Of course, that is just my opinion. So who really knows. You could be right. I guess I'll just take my chances. At 55, I only have a few more years to worry about it anyway..

Hate to enter an argument with folks that won't listen, but a friends son is an FBI agent and we have talked about privacy. They have access to everything local, state and federal without exception and have various departments that do various things. Number one is terrorism, always ongoing. Number two is drugs and the things that go with that. And on down a list. Tax evaders, cheats and all that is strictly IRS.BUT Terry is 100% correct. If they want info on anyone, an immediate file is started if there isn't one, the computer people (cyberforce) get it done, sometimes with the aid of lots of other groups. School records, police records, IRS data, anything ever purchased, purchased online, travel, history of movement, work history and if needed field agents are sent out to gather bits and pieces. He seemed quite proud of the fact that all this happens in record time. But again, there are priorities for problems and you have to be a real screw up to show up on the grid. In other words, they aren't worried. The government doesn't want you, the business world does. They are the people that buy and sell your info, keep track of your credit, buy from facebook, my space, anyplace you use a credit card. Ask Terry how many times AARP has already contacted him. Folks, it's not the government you need to worry about. I don't want to talk about our detector sponsors, BUT. So lighten up. Can your ID be stolen by a hacker? Why not, it's already been stolen by starbucks, sears, target, the list is kind of long.

Am i the only one that never puts accurate info in while i am signing up for theses things on the internet? I mean come on guys face book and everything else only knows what you tell them its like signing up for drawings at a convention you use false info and take all the free stuff from the booth!

Dont worry terry no hard feelings here. All you people in here(with a few exceptions) seem to think im this antiamerican antigovernment big bad person or something or another when i'm here to help all of you, thats pretty damn funny.Dont worry terry at 55 youre not ready for the casket yet.All im trying to do is get points across. With everything as screwed up as it is isnt it better to avoid the extra B.S.I've read too much stuff about facebook,I myself wouldnt trust it.Just for the hell of it i typed in a buddies name into google that has a face book account. In about 30 seconds i had his address,i had his 2 daughters addresses,I had his brothers address, his parents address.Even though i already knew all their names,i had all their names on the screen.I had his exwifes name and address. If i took a few more seconds i could of had all their phone numbers and what they had for breakfast and the kind of car they drove.

Dont worry austin i already know how they gather information.I also know that just about every city has a fusion center where any US intelligence agency can go to get information on anybody they want to.All the info is already gathered sitting there.

As the saying goes: There are secrets that we tell just friends
There are secrets that we tell only our mother or father
There are secrets that we tell no-one and take to the grave
So I feel that if you post something on Facebook.... you don't really care who knows. By now all people should know that once on facebook....it's out there. Especially pictures. So you just gotta use common sense- And quoting sonofadigger~ "Common sense is so rare these days it should be classified as a super power"
