Anyone collect pennies?

A friend of mine recently inherited some coins his father had collected over the years. For some reason, his father collected uncirculated pennies --- as far back as the 30's. Most have been removed from the rolls, professionally graded, and placed in sealed plastic tubes, but there are lots in the original wrappers as well.

Does anyone know of a collector who buys pennies?

I like pennies! I have a few and they are fun to collect since they are affordable and very common. I like to vary my collection like everyone, i couldnt imagine just collecting stinky copper all the time.

you're right, pennies do stink-a beach pail sitting in the corner of the room that is full of pennies really smells bad... God knows where those pennies have been, but they're fun to search through

I'm gradually filling a book by coin roll hunting, but I probably won't buy too many above face. If I'm going to spend money on coins, I'll probably save it for series I like more than Lincoln cents and is harder to find in change.

There are several dates in the 30s that are worth some good money in uncirculated condition, particularly 1931-S, and of course you'll want to look for major varieties like the 1955 double die.

Well, these aren't your average pennies . . . one of the rolls uncirculated, has a book value of $200.00 per coin.

I know no one pays book, but gives you an idea of what we're talking about.

I was just hoping to get an idea of what I might be able to offer for them --- what percentage of book would be reasonable?
