I know you can't believe everything on Youtube, but I see this one guy who ONLY seems to ever detect in the water (i.e. waist or higher). He seems pretty good at it (he says he normally gets at least one ring every trip, as unbelievable as that sounds). When he isn't getting hits at one beach, he doesn't move up to the surf or the dry sand to try his luck there - he says "time to move to a different beach"(!) It seems like it would be a challenge to find parking that way, especially weekends on the barrier islands with their finite parking spaces. I guess that's when you park in the pricey parking decks and have to walk 1/2 mile to the beach while lugging your equipment.
Are there others here who only detect in the dry sand/surf/water, also, and nothing else? Kind of like a specialization?
