Anyone know about creeks that say salmon habitat in ca?

Does anyone know if they can prospect a creek if the creek has a salmon habitat sign by the creek in ca? I have looked online but can't seem to find anything. I know people are fishing in these creeks but not sure about prospecting

Lots of prospecting happens in salmon creeks sign or not.

There is no law against it

The people that put the sign up got the exact reaction they were hoping for....It's a public awareness effort, with the side effect of people thinking...maybe I'm not supposed to fish..mine...swim...boat...
