Anyone recognize the markings on this ring? Also found a earring with diamond?

Found this at a park. Looks to be plated, but I do not know what these markings or symbols mean. It has a U with arrows pointing out on both sides and the number 4 next to it. Heart skipped a beat when it was dirty and all I could make out was a 4 (thought it was 14K).



Also found this earring with what I hope is a diamond that fell off when I pulled it out.

that mark should be for Uncas Manufacturing Company, a well known maker of costume jewelry.

I think you nailed it! It looks exactly like the symbol I found on a website for Uncas.

Looks like one of my "heart attack" rings! Ya pull it out...blow it off and ohhhh! Disappointment then an "Oh well" . You just never know till you dig it up!
