Anyone snorkel and hunt ?

Hey I’ve been hunting for 15 years
Mostly snorkeling waist hight and lower
Been traveling and wonderd where are good places anyone recommend in the Caribbean?

Damn Casper, those are some incredibly sweet finds! Do you fly to those locations or take a cruise? Also, do you have any issues in those countries/locations with detector laws, regulations, or needing to get a permit?

I've seen some posts from other detectorists that tried taking their detectors on a cruise and they were confiscated by the cruise line. Others had their detector confiscated when they went through customs, depending on the country.

BTW, for those that like snorkel/hukkah detecting, there's a girl on YouTube named Nora Svet who metal detects under water. Her and her mom travel to a lot of islands & different countries so that she can detect the waters of their beaches. She usually has a friend tagging along with her. She makes some very impressive finds, and as a bonus, ahem, she's very easy on the eyes.

She got away with it but detecting is illegal in Jamaica now
Bermuda you need a permit
I always used to fly to islands - my GF is a high roller at casino and gets free cruises
last few yrs - havent had a problem yet- just booked a free cruise for Dec. - hoping
not to have a prob

gold from a cruise - didnt get to hunt as much as id like

What i dont usually mention from a lot of my trips - people think i hunt all day every day on my trips
NO i do not - i will usually try and hunt at sunrise at destination for 3-4 hrs and will sight see
with my gal and go to nice restaraunts during the day and then hunt for awhile at sunset
Cant imagine how id do if i could hunt 12 hrs a day like some of my old friends do
but i have to give the middle of the days to my girl - we used to go horse back riding on
most islands - we would rent a car at most islands and do some driving

It just amazes me that in Jamaica, locals can walk up and down the beach selling ganja and who knows what else, but a metal detector is illegal, just blows my mind. Your GF is a high roller? Treat that woman well my man, lol.

For the cruises, I've seen some posts where the guys attached screenshots they took of prohibited items on the cruise lines website, and right there along with knives, explosives, guns, flammable liquids, and all sorts of nasty things was a graphic of a metal detector, lol. Good grief, what on earth do they think we'll be doing with a metal detector, except detecting metal? Just boggles my mind as I wonder how on earth such idiots rise to high levels of power in the Gov't and Corporations, where they can make these totally insane and senseless decisions.

But if you're going on a cruise in Dec, you might want to check out the cruise lines website for that list of prohibited items. It may depend on where you're traveling to and what the laws are there, but I'd hate for you to have your detector confiscated, which would be a major bummer.

Good grief, what possible reason could a person have at the cruise lines where they would take it upon themselves to ban metal detectors, sounds like a personal issue. Maybe they used to have one, never found anything, so they don't want anyone else to be able to find what they couldn't. Or maybe they really wanted one as a kid, but their mommy didn't buy them one, so they're psychologically soured on metal detectors in general, lol.

But I'll give the cruise lines the benefit of the doubt. They may just be following the rules/laws of the countries they're heading to. So, for instance, if Jamica has banned metal detectors and one of their ships will be heading to Jamica, I can see where they would add metal detectors to the list of prohibited items for that Cruise. I'm sure they don't want to be the "bad guy" and have to confiscate one of their guests' detectors, which would probably cause a big scene and would create bad blood between the guest and the cruise lines, where it wasn't the cruise lines rule, it was the rule of the country the ship was heading to. To me, that makes sense, and I could see that as a possible explanation.

That said, prohibiting metal detectors for the cruise to Jamaica should only be listed for that specific cruise to Jamaica. Or if another ship is traveling to another country where detectors are banned, then it should only be on the prohibited list for that specific cruise. But if the ship is heading to Cozumel and detectors aren't banned in Cozumel, it shouldn't be on the prohibited list for that specific cruise, if detectors are indeed allowed at the destination they'll be sailing to.

Sidenote: Many years ago, I & the ex-went with a bunch of our friends, 20 of us in total, on a Carnival Cruise to Belize, Cozumel and I think there was another location included. I really liked Carnival, there was so much to do on that ship, and I was never bored. While we were in Cozumel, Hurricane Dennis was active and approaching, so we had to hang tight and stay for many extra hours, until the Captain could see where the Hurricane was heading. Once they saw that it had veered and started heading to Florida, we took off and followed the Hurrican back to Tampa. The Hurricane was about 100 miles ahead of us and the trip was pretty rowdy, with huge waves and strong winds, but that was pretty cool IMO, as I just love bad weather. But as we got closer to FL, the weather calmed down and the trip became very enjoyable. I was sitting on the deck with a bunch of my friends, there was a nice breeze, had a drink in my hand, and we were really enjoying our last couple of hours before docking in Tampa.

About an hour before we were scheduled to dock, a voice came over the loudspeaker, asking everyone that bought and would be taking back bottles of liquor to line up at a specific place on the ship for Customs. OK, no problem, so I grabbed my box of liquor that I bought, went to where they said we needed to go, and stood in line with everyone else. And I stood, and stood, and stood. It was getting really hot where we were standing and we're all wondering where the Customs guy was, as the line wasn't moving. I stood in that line for an hour, sweating as it was hot. Finally, someone told me that the Customs guy isn't on the ship, he's at the dock and won't be on the ship until we arrived in Tampa. WTF!!!! You mean I've been standing in line sweating, for the last hour and the Customs guy isn't even on the ship?

I could have spent that last hour on the deck with my friends, continuing to enjoy our drinks and the nice cool breeze, it was my last hour on the ship, and it was wasted by standing in line for Customs, who wouldn't be boarding until we docked in Tampa. Once we docked, the Customs guy came on, walked past me to go into a room on the ship where he'd be checking everything out, and just as he passed by me, he stopped and yelled out to everyone that if we had less than x number of bottles of liquor, we didn't need to go through Customs. WTF again!!!!

I had less than the number of bottles he mentioned so I didn't even have to check them through Customs. Don't know if this was miscommunication or what, but I spent the last hour of a cruise I really enjoyed being totally pissed off, and that last hour sweating in line, when I didn't even need to be there and that really ruined the trip for me. Man, I was really, really pissed and steam must have been coming out my ears. But now I know for the next cruise, if I ever hear that announcement again, I'm staying put. I'll wait until we dock before I get up to check anything I bought through customs, so lesson learned. But just goes to show how 1 simple miscommunication can really spoil an otherwise great cruise.
