I am thinking of buying this scoop and just wanted a little input on it before I did. Wet sand is what it will be for. Thanks

Why?

Do you only hunt of sand bottom without shells/rocks/mud/stones?
If so an aluminum tip will do fine, otherwise you should have a stainless steel tip for digging.

Do you like the large 5/8 inch holes ?
The larger the hole the more likely small targets and chains will fall through.

Do you like scoops which tend to roll.
round bottom scoops are inherently unstable.

On the plus side, I would prefer this scoop in rougher water, simply because it is less likely to cut me .
Also, it appears to be light and easy to handle.
Further the back square grid should drain easier in dry sand.

I started out with a similar scoop but not as good because it did not have the square grid in the rear.
I still have it and still use it, as there are times and places that it works best.
However, I will soon add a stainless steel tip to it for digging in the rocks
and will add wire screen to the bottom/back of it to keep smaller items from falling through.

I bought a scoop just like it. Second season, the handle bent just above the welded brace. Threw it in the garbage.

Then I bought a real scoop.

I've had it for years, shows no sign of wear, and I don't expect I'll have to buy another scoop anytime soon.

In my opinion.....spend the extra money and get yourself a T- Rex or Stealth. I have an RTG scoop and a T-Rex. T-Rex moves more earth, drains better and the wet sand doesn't stick to the inside. My .02 cents.
