April 1st - Got the detector out the first time this year & had a pretty good day. Bunch of common coins , Buffalo Nickel from 1929 , 3 Wheats from 20's - 40's , Square Nail , a Dragon Lighter holder and some misc. items.

April 2nd - Went out yesterday about 5 mins before the bad weather hit and first thing ( & only thing due to weather ) was this Standing Liberty Quarter. Heavily worn and date unknown but still a cool find !

Good hunting!
Congrats on getting out briefly.

Must be the best per minute Hunt of your life on the second day! Well done!

Hahah no kidding. Never was the first thing I dug up a silver coin, Sucks I got out to late yesterday and didn't beat the bad weather. Got a good 2 mins tops of swinging in before freezing rain , snow and cold wind.

I tried to get out, but the ground was just too wet around here (Flint area). I am hoping it dries up a bit and I can get out on Tuesday. Supposed to be sunny and decently warm. Still sitting with snow on the ground right now.

WTG on the SLQ. They are hard to come by in any condition.

That's either a 1916 or 1917 "type 1" st. lib

that style was only made for 2 yrs

if you can get a legitimate date off it of 1916 (see it in any form even in the slightest -- even under a scope) it's worth $1000s

How can you tell its a type 1 , what do you look for ?

Sweet SLQ!! Congrats on the Buff and Wheats too. WTG

Congrats on the SLQ and all the other finds. :occasion14: Looks like you are learning the detector. What set up do you use?

I use DE mode if the ground is flat, if there are many ruts, I sometimes go to PF mode.

I run disc 1-19, 4H Tone, Sensitivity of 65 to 70 and I switch frequencies to get a quiet one when needed.

GL & HH

I run it JE mode most the time , 4H tone but still dig anything with a solid repeating sound , Sen: as high as i can go before it gets chattery , Disc around 15 to get rid of most the Iron signals.

I never tried messing around with the Frequency's before. But there are place I go and its constant noise even with sensitivity down low. Maybe that would help with the chatter.

Made the most of that 5 min. hunt! Congrats on the Silver and hope it turns out to be a winner!

nice nab on that slick stander!...those are hard to come by, congrats on a good hunt!
