These in-situ photos were taken from the second trip to this flood washout. The river came through and washed rocks into piles which produced many thebes, kirks, a broken dovetail, large preforms/blades, 3in adena, bird points, and others. One thebes has been pieced together and is 3x1.25 long and another 3x1 11/16. The second photo has a 2.25x1.25in kirk I found in-situ.

Re: Tippecanoe River field flood finds

Nice finds dollarzero and great in situ pictures.

My brother got into a field a few years back that was similar to yours. A creek had come up out of it's banks and washed right through this field and taken off all of the topsoil right down to the hardpan. My brother and a buddy of his were the first ones right after this happened and they found points piled up together in the rocks, sometimes as many as 8 or 9 in one spot. If I remember correctly I think they both came out of the field with around 40 good whole points each and just as many of not more broken ones. I got into the field a few days later and found 7 really nice points myself. The farmer then decided he didn't want anybody in his fields and we haven't been back since.

Re: Tippecanoe River field flood finds

Man this field produced a lot of Archaic material! The majority of these are highly stained Attica chert/Indiana green.

Went back and the washout was plowed
pretty good. The first pic is one that my
friend and I walked past then he spotted
this no brainer on our second pass when
we left! One of my favorites to find too.
It's made of Indiana Green/Attica Chert
and is stained. The group photo shows
his on the top and mine on the bottom.
Pretty good day!

That Thebes is fantastic even broke. If you want to swap for a nice Florida point let me know!

Looks like somebody put a spring
on the doll heads neck so it would
move when hit with beebees.
Weird...

Very nice show, I hate it when the river gets up like that. :headbang: :headbang: :hello2: :hello2: If I could give some advice to folks, its to pound those areas that get flooded, and wash out places that don't get flooded usually. good finds. John
