Apush: My First

Hello All,
Been a while since I have posted as work and grad school has kept me very busy. But, I did have to stop tonight and post as I finally joined another "elite club." This Barber strolled out of 2 boxes I picked up this afternoon. Total = 1 Barber-1907-0; 2 Walkers, 1-1964, 6-40%, 1 clad cameo.

Hope everyone is doing great! I will have more time this summer to hunt as we have Friday's off. :icon_sunny:

According to the 2011 red book, the 1921 with no mint mark is valued at $180 in G-4 condition. Similar coins have sold on ebay for $75-$200.

That was a sweet score!!!

Nice Barber, too...I'm still waiting for my first haircut...

Sweet! Would love to find more of the older coins. Really want to fill some holes in my set.

I'd be torn between selling it and buying more silver, or just putting it in the album... probably would go in the album... now if I found two...

Wow! Do you realize that a 21 and a Barber at the same time is about the rarest find you could have? I would bet a 55 Ben that no one on this forum has ever done what you just did. Truly a monumental combination!!!!

When I was scrolling down to the pics I saw the Walker on the right first, then checked the one to the left and had to take of my glasses, clean 'em, and put them back on!

Congrats on that '21!

Guys,
Should I send the Walker off to be graded and what they call "slabbed?" I have never thought about doing that before. If I elect do so so, what is the best coin grader? I have heard of those "shady" ones that are cheap-o's so I don't want to go there. I will keep the coin for my grandchild. Should I? Or should I just encase it and leave it at that? Comments welcome.

I would not get it graded unless you are planning of ebaying or something, that way it helps with any authenticity questions. If you're going to keep it I would keep it raw in a 2x2 or an album.

Just my two cents, but since I'm trying to build a complete set of Walkers I'm a little biased.

If you are not gonna sell it, why grade it? I found a really nice 1938D I never had graded. I guess if I found something I wanted to sell I may. Thats just me though.
