Are there any relic hunters around here?

Found this primer the last time out with my old dfx before it broke down. primer.webp

That's a really nice and uncommon find a lot of folks wouldn't have known what it was.
I love the old military stuff.
I've found some over the years most really shows its age.. Not the prettiest 1830 s stuff mostly

On the site where I found this primer I have also found about 43 others. All fired and all within about 50 feet of each other. This area has also produced one shoulder scale and a cent from 1863. The Indian head looked as if it was dropped yesterday.

Sounds like it was a high point Perfect for setting up down range shots.
Speaking of Indian heads I eyeballed one on the surface today.
.. first time I've ever done that.
Not 1800's but still that was cool

Before you posted this pic im afraid I wouldn't even Know what that is if I found it.Glad you posted this thank you.I sure hope I come across one of those before my times up.What age range are you guessing on it?

Anyone hunt in the Prince George, Va area, I need some new relic hunting buddies????

This primer would of been made during the Civil War. Given where I found this and the other things that were in the same area, I would say probably 1862 or early 63.

I haven't posted in this forum before, I guess because I don't generally find relics from the civil war, colonial era, ect........ you know, really, really old/really cool stuff. I didn't realize there was much interest in "newer" relics. But hey, I'm glad to hear there is. I like em too! I'll try to participate in this forum in the future. You are right, it did seem to be getting cobwebs. Thanks for starting the thread!

Well heck yeah those are great..
Thank you for chipping in... Definitely great relics.
I have a few more interesting ones while I'm here
