Went on an arrowhead hunt along the river in Georgia and the water was a bit high, no luck except when I found this apparent fossilized or hardened shell I thought was rock and it might be a mortar...I don't think so...had a good hike anyway and found parts of some old bottles and a lure pictured...then got back to the car and got the detector and went to a late 1800s home had been to before. Found this 1935 Indian Head nickle...not a bad day all in all.

a buffalo nickel would make my day

that shell looks like an oyster shell to me. the Buffalo is a nice find too. its kind of cool to see one dug that hasn't turned that ugly shade of red that the soil around here turns them! nice stuff!

the shell could be a artifact...But wasn't necessarily hollowed out by man.
