Boy what a day Rick and I had out on one of the fields we have recently been given permission to hunt. It was a stunning day from the moment we drove up to the field and saw a mother dear and her small fawn in one of the fields, unfortunately we couldn't get the camera out fast enouph to get a pic of them. It was 0630, the air was freash and clear, the sun was out and it was a perfect temp for hunting, you just don't get it any better then that.
We started out and Rick had got his first copper up with in a few minutes when I notice on top of the hill a small mound so I told Rick I was heading up there to check it out. Sure enouph it was a cellar hole. When Rick had noticed I was hanging around one area he wasn't long heading up the hill and on his way he found a 19 century 6 silver pence. (don't know how I missed that going up the hill). We were getting hits left and right and Rick was killing it on the coppers I was holding my oun though with the relics. by 10:30 it was time to head to the van for a break and on the way down Rick got a signal and dug up a 2nd officers Artillery button (1790-1802) Wow! So I started to head down the hill again when I got a target, and I too dug an identical officers botton, yippy!
So far in the last week or so Rick and I together have got 43 coppers, we have been having a ball.
I also dug up a cannon, Ram rod thimble, one meen looking enfield bullet, pistal ball and some other goodies.

After a full day of hunting we just had to stop at the pup for an ice cold beer on the patio and just soak it all in.

HH everyone,

great copper day , like the toy cannon , that's very kool , positive I have seen those posted here on TN in the past

Outstanding finds. :icon_thumleft: You guys have been doing great!! :notworthy:

Now what's there not to like about a hunting day like that, handful of coppers and relics.
I found a little cannon about 5 yrs ago and when I think about it still I get that nice feeling inside.
What's the item in the lower right hand side of the 2nd photo?

You guys are ripping it up on the coppers!

Hitting a bunch of old virgin sites is so awesome for the numbers of targets that keep you digging all day with the anticipation of hitting something really awesome. No doubt you guys will be pulling good stuff out of there for years to come.

what a great day, what are all the coppers?

Rick is looking over his and trying to sort them all out and he will be putting up a post soon. My coppers are british one pence and half pences and a Nova Scotia penny token. The dates ar between the late 1700s and mid 1800s.

That cannon is sure a lot smaller than it looked in the first photo. I wonder if it was a kids toy or a man's desk decoration? You guys are really killing that spot. Looks like you have a broken piece of trigger guard, and the ramrod pipe looks kind of Brown Bess. Great post, keep us posted.

Still rollin. If you can keep it going I can see a great relic showing itself soon. Definitely Rev War button territory at those sites.

Amazing stuff! You and Rick are shaping up as a team to be reckoned with! With those kind of numbers you need to come up with a name for your team and start accumulating team totals. We already have a team in Tennessee and a team in Louisiana.....lets put Nova Scotia on the map!!

This is all said tongue-in-cheek of course.....:laughing7:

Seriously, I love the British artillery buttons and the toy cannon is one of the nicest I have seen dug! Rick's 12 copper day is just incredible!

That cannon is awesome. I want to dig one

I think this was a kids toy, it is pretty small. The cannon was on my wish list so I was really happy to find it. You are right about the trigger piece and Ram rod pipe. Rick got a RR pipe as well and a screw for the flint lock. I think we will eventually find the rest of the musket.

Thanks Steve, we have been blessed with a handfull of virgin sites with cellar holes on almost all of them. We still have fields that we haven't even touched yet so it kills me to have to go back to work tomorrow.

Very nice array of finds there! Love the cannon! Please post close-ups of it! Is that an 1856 FE cent I see there too??

I will update the cannon pic tomorrow when it is cleaned up. I am not sure about the FE cent, that would be nice. Rick has just posted his finds, he might say on the post.

Awesome, nice finds and it will be great to see what else you find there......

Sounds like you guys are having a ball there.. and with finds like that I can see why! Keep the finds coming before the grass gets too long...thanks for sharing
