AT Gold= THUMBS DOWN!!!

Now you want money! lol

Just received my metal detector for my B-day, but it was the wrong one. The wife got me the Teknetics T2 ES LTD instead of the Garrett AT Pro/ Gold. Just need some advice if i should keep it or swap it out? Took it for a test run with the 5" coil and was not impressed. Tested it on some silver coins i found with my Delta but for some reason it jumps all around and never gives me the same ID number... Bought the coil covers from the factory which is literary 5 miles from where i live. Ran it in discrimination at 39, sensitivity at 85 and 3 on tone. Hunted an early 20's dump which has been good to my the past couple month as you can see below. Used my delta 4000. Maybe i had a bad day.

In my opinion keep what u got, u actually do have a very good detector that's very capable of finding what ur looking for with ease. U had a,bad day period, also you just got it & there are numerous settings ill have to get used to, yes the Atpro/atgold will have a less learning curve that's a fact. I think a lot of people are stuck on the Atpro cuz of all its followers that do find a lot of great things not gonna lie I am one had one loved it want another, there good & the obvious it can be used in rain aswell. The t2 has a iron noise just like the pro sounds a little different but does the same. My opinion would be & its only mine u got extra coils & the better of the t2 line aswell keep it get some hours on it then when u start finding gold, silver trade it all in for a Atpro or gold. U havent used those so if u get rid of ur t2 whose to say ur gonna be happy with the pro never know good luck with ur decision & happy hunting everyone

I your not planning to water hunt, i would probably keep and learn the T2 aswell...

I have an AT Gold. There is a learning curve. The amount of iron discrimination you use can make a big difference. That's why they have high-resolution because it is important. The videos show a nail next to a gold nugget. That's just one example. Then there's All Metal mode. That is the real learning curve and if it's not too trashy watch the numbers and listen for the short, quick, sharp, narrow blips that accelerate like a rubber band. The numbers are not going to be accurate on the deep targets but if you see anything above iron and you know it's deep, well you just have to learn by doing it. If you think you know it all, you are the one who needs to learn. You can get really deep targets. I've dug coins over 12 inches with the small coil. This boils down to your attitude. The negative attitude cuts you off, blinds you to the possibilities. Especially if you listen to other people who try to influence you that their detector is better. Yes, sorry to say a couple detector companies really spread the propaganda.

Hard decision but I have to make up my mind today cause if i don't i wont send it back and wished i had. This is what the dump looks like with a lot of trash and cans. Some of the best items are found above... I think we pretty much cleaned out this dump. Going to take another shot at it but with my delta, will post my finds if any afterwards while i contemplate my dilemma of exchanging my T2.

Although like I said I never had either but did have a Atpro loved it I just think u did make the right call it is a higher end machine with more adjustments you can make to fit ur detecting needs in diffferent areas. & I'm also sure more you use it ur gonna like it more & more & the finds are gonna show

Found this old 1935 Texas chauffeur badge

Thanks christo!

All these nice finds, u do have a honey hole there hope to see more

Will be posting more in the future... At the moment i think this honey hole is about dry. My buddy says that we've only touched the surface and there is more like 90 more years of goodies. Its so close to my house that i cant help stoping bye when I have a chance, but to tell you the truth I'm getting bored of it since its not as easy to find good things let alone coins.

I'd keep it. A lot of the difference in the finds are more related to the operator than the machine itself. I have seen some elcheapo machines dig some mighty nice items. Don't know about the particular machine you just got, but I can outdig most people any way with a cheap machine due to my determination and technique. And it's not perfect!

What your hunting sites are, what your habits are, really have no bearing as to how you had the gold set up on the particular day(s) you hunted the iron with it. If you are honest with yourself, you might find that maybe you are better familiar with what the T2 says than what the gold says. There is no secret pill machine that fixes all problems and leaves no treasure behind. If the T2 does it better....stay with it. It fits your hunting style better.

Yeah, I'd keep it, too. It wouldn't be nice to push it off on some poor sucker. Those companies are going down.

really I do great with mine and have fun detecting. Isn't that the reason we do this. I have never said anything negative about another machine but when I upgraded I wasn't interested in spending 1000 dollars or more when I could get a good machine for much less and get in water with it. I have the pro and may buy the gold too because I love detecting with my machine. Good luck everyone.

I think he's talking about the t2 and first texas. Silly either way. Must have inside information nobody else has.

yea I re read it and think you are rite. I have no exp with the t2 so I can't tell you anything about that one. I have hunted with Garrett's and an old bounty hunter. I have hunted with guys with other machines that are older models and my pro does so much better in heavy iron with even the stock coil. I'm sure there are detectors out there that are better on depth and in iron than my pro but I am happy with the pro and it was a great price. The other detectors I've used were not good or even a waste of time in heavy iron. I like to hunt fields and old home sites that are long gone or falling apart and the pro does better than anything I've used in the past. I also like to hunt in the rivers on old crossing sites so the water proof is awesome for me.
