Sent to Garrett on 12/9.. Got word yesterday that both coils were bad and some other things. A little over two years old. It's on the way back to me all fixed free of charge. GARRETT IS THE GREATEST.

Really though, how could a coil go bad unless it is cracked open or something like that?? Only wound wire in there I think?

Coils go bad without any abuse. I had a D2 coil go bad on my V3i in less than a year and it looked brand new. If a bolt can break so can a coil. I think it's mostly a manufacturing flaw than anything else. Glad it was still under warranty for you, mine was too.
 

Both coils in in that short of a time not good … Good thing garrett has great service...

You got one good deal from Garrett....i think the # 1 problem with any detector company is coil problems .
