Took a day off work to locate an old abandoned grist mill in the woods found it but it was pounded and had no targets to dig. I guess you can see it from the road in the winter when there's no foliage. Still a cool place to visit stellar stone work! Got discouraged and headed to one of my sites I have hunted for 3 years. it still produces if you are willing to bleed a little in the wild rose patches and put up with all the thick brush. 5 hours into my days hunting I got a nickle signal that was not hollow sounding like a shot shell. Tried the sunray pinpointer from the surface and got no signal ..a great sign its a coin. I dug a big plug and under it is a very odd size coin after some rubbing I saw the 2 and did the happy dance! Then I saw that I nicked it and wondered how could I be that far off on my pinpointing rescanned and found it was a coin spill with a bunch of trashed shield nickles in the hole all of which sounded like gold in the headphones. The 1866 2 cent is not perfect but great for a copper in this soil. I carry it around the house like I did my first large cent!
