Hey iv been metal detecting for about 3 years now and im using a fisher f4 its good found lots of great stuff but i want to upgrade and get something waterproof. So im stuck between the at pro or the at gold. Iv been doing lots of reading up on both but still not sure. Kind of leaning to the at gold because im not by any salt water and i use all metal mode now. But everyone really speaks good about the at pro. If anyone one could spare there thoughts or experience with one or both it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Well, there you have it. I stand corrected on All Metal Mode being the same as "no discrimination". Apparently, there's "more sound" or at the very least, the knob goes all the way to 11.

Cool.

I'm sure it's not the first, or last, time you'll be wrong but you really should watch some of the all metal videos, as you still think the only difference is "more sound".

Sweet. Thanks everyone for all the help in making my decision . I appreciate all the input and knowledge . Ill be going with the at gold . The main reason being im just a all metal mode guy. But thanks again everyone. Happy hunting.

I guess I was feeling a little bit generous for giving away my secrets. LOL Just remember in your early learning stages to work the areas where the trash starts to thin out. Also not a bad idea to check the area to be clear of iron in AMM before ground balancing because you won't hear the iron if you are using any discrimination and your balance will be way off. Keep coil as low as possible when balancing--the manual says as high as 8 inches but this is not a good idea most of the time. Balance often especially any terrain change. If you sense the ID is wrong, it's a good chance your balance is off. Remember when in doubt, check the target with iron audio. Surface targets are harder to pinpoint with high sensitivity. Use the tip/tail method. Don't forget to take a break every couple of hours. When going under water make sure connections are tight.

If you can find a sand tot lot, practice in AMM and check every target with iron audio then dig everything. Use different iron cut-off settings. In about an hour you will get the hang of it.
