AT pro question

I got my garrett AT pro today but I didn't want to spend the money for the underwater headphones since I already spent the majority of my cash on the machine itself, my question is can I just plug the headphone hole with the plug it comes with and take her under with no headphones or do I need to spend the money for the headphones? Thanks!

I tried that in a swimming pool and could not hear it at all. I thought you would be able to hear at least something but no go!

Wow, awesome question and I don't know why I haven't thought of it, I am in the same boat as you with the new AT Pro and not yet willing to spend the extra $ on waterproof headphones, not warm enough yet in the PNW yet anyway for me. That's probably a great question for Garrett! I can't see why that wouldn't work but maybe Garrett has a reason it won't. I hope you get your answer soon, and thanks for asking that! Edit....there was no reply to your question when I first started to post this, but after I posted it I did see the answer about not being able to hear the detector so I guess so much for a great idea!

You guys try it for yourselves, I have perfect hearing and couldn't hear anything at all while targeting coins in pool. HH

AT Pro comes with land headphones what will work while you wade. You just have to make sure they are connected right and not get the phones wet! The speaker does't work underwater.

grey ghost amphibian blows the AT pro headphones out of the water, used them for about 12 hours now..love them even at $150 they fit nice unlike the OEM AT pro head phones that clamp your head and kill your ears after 20-30 minutes. I was on the fence at first since I did not want something that was going to hurt my ears after 30 minutes and so far I have used the grey ghost amphibian 2 hours straight at a time with zero comfort issues : )
