1) What are you hunting ? Coin (clad and silver) shooter? CW Relic's? On land only ? Do beaches? This will get you in the water up to 10'
I have a Whites IDX Pro (Land Only) I'm facing the same delima here. I want the AT Pro, My question is same as yours. Is my upgrade enough? This purchase will give me water access. Is this all my upgrade is? I'm thinking Maybe going another jump up from there to the Garrett GTI 2500 This will atleast get me deeper.
I figure gettin an upgrade for the $549 AT Pro just gets me in the water, my upgrade has to be more. Deeper would be a interest to me. Getting the stuff others miss.
Do a comparison what you have vs The AT Pro. If there are good differences then the AT Pro is your detector. If not Then save to get the upgrade that you desire.

I started with the BH tracker IV and it is actually a great detector for the money. However, it is not very deep and as you have found out it is common for people to want to upgrade very quickly. Don't get rid of it though because it makes a great child/backup detector. I even use mine to sort copper vs. zinc cents.

I just canceled my order from KellyCo a couple of hours ago and Bart said he had some coming in tomorrow so I got the AT Pro Adventure package from him. I already have my UPS tracking number for it. KellyCo said they still had no idea when they would be getting any in. I would suggest just calling on the phone if you have not heard anything.
