At the lake

[Chilli]

Nice day today. I escaped the misses😂
But also went to a nearby lake for a fish. Few small hits and one small redfin. Fun though.

Plenty of bird life there today.
A Darter.

Cormorants chilling out in a tree.

Some Cockatoos.

Hi guys. Yeah I love it there. Always lots of bird life and nice scenery.
One of the few places with fish here too.

Beautiful spot to relax at, no doubt!

BTW, those cormorants are most likely the reason you're not catching many fish. They gorge themselves on the salmon smolt in the river in my backyard. They're protected so we can't harm 'em, but I still throw rocks at 'em!

Hi, yeah I call them the Raiders. They're probably doing that with the rainbow trout that were stocked there 2 months ago. They let go 2000 in there. They are protected here too. Hopefully some survive the onslaught! Fingers crossed 😁

Nice photos of the area. You're lucky to have so many species of birds.

Actually we were paddling on a river and saw these weird birds sunning, with the wings spread. Cormorants 🤣

Here in Ontario the Cormorants have become a problem. So a season from September-December to cull up to 15 birds a day.
There's a breeding place on the Toronto Islands.

Basically the birds have killed all the trees on this once beautiful Island.
88% now nest on the ground.

That's a marina next to the breeding area. Good luck with cleaning fishy smelling wet cement Gano off the boat.

A cormorant hit, yes the window was down a bit.

That's a Perch you have a picture of isn't it ? Also a lot of nice feather friends pictures

I missed this post for some reason. I loathe birds crapping on my car, that would have seen me blow my top 😬
They can decimate small res's like the one here. Its shallow and nothing is out of their dive range. 🫤

Yes Gare, an English Perch. We call them Redfin. Nice eating when they get a bit bigger. Yeah lots of birdlife there. At present the place will be like a National Lampoon vacation movie being holiday season. Popular camping area for bush walkers and trail riders through the range during the Xmas holidays. Ill go there at the end of the month when they're all gone. 😁👍
