I just tried to scrub it out a bit better with a toothbrush, I still not really readable.
It might say 11K on the right hand side of the stamping.

I believe so.

I'm not sure how think it is, but it is thick enough to be engraved, so it's more then a plating I suppose.

SWEET ring! I'm so glad that the AT Pro wasn't responsible. Seems like they're finding everything these days.

I think the ring is probably 1920s-30s. Style and shape looks similar to a silver boy scout ring I dug from the 30s.

I would agree I have found one ring that was stamped sterling and 10k then had the a date of 1926 on it.

Also being a signet ring kind of dates it to the early 1900's..

The out side is a heavy gold layer and inside was sterling
