I'd be happy to give it a go, and if the publication likes it, that's great. If they don't, well,
that's OK too. It's a pleasure to share my adventures, but have no delusions about being a
serious author. More than likely it will end up as a fair article with excellent images, and if you
feel it has some value, then we'll talk about the options and see what works best. No worries
either way.

Have been told by many that I'm a fair writer, and love to tell a good story. It will take
me a while to get it all written, and then it will need to be reduced to the size of article
desired. Biggest weakness I have in my writing is a tendency to "take the long way home"
when telling a story, so it will require some additional editing time when writing for publication.

I'll be heading out on a 2-week prospecting trip a week from today, and will be traveling through
both eastern and western Oregon, both sides of Calif. and through central Nevada from Tonopah
North, and back up to Washington through Idaho and Oregon. Odds are high they'll be a lot of
wandering from that general path, however I'm not in any hurry to move on if I'm finding good gold,
beautiful country, or both.

Initial plan was to spend the majority of time nugget shooting, but now it appears that I'll also
have access to some good areas in both Calif. and Oregon to drop in my sluice. Relaxing camping,
nugget shooting, and a whole lot of photography all the way up through central Nevada.

I retired as a photographer, and will have my Nikon's (plus tripod and accessories)
along for the trip. There's little doubt the vacation will end with several hundred still
shots of landscapes, critters, and loads of prospecting images, so they'll be more than
plenty to choose from for an article.

For reference, here is one of my images. The shot was taken from my backyard, and was chosen
over 6000 others as the January image for the 2013 Weather Calender published by Seattle
based, NBC affiliate King5. Image is best viewed by hitting F11 and then expanding it to
maximum size.

It will take some time to write it all up when I return, plus images are shot in RAW and
will need to be processed. Should have something decent together by mid-June.

This is gonna be fun...

I have to apologize, Roadrunner... My post sounded snarky and demeaning... I encourage you to submit a piece. I went panning Saturday, took some photos, and wrote a 1300 word piece in about an hour on Sunday. It was easy to submit and, you just never know...

Apology accepted, but you where right. The first 2 sentences of my top 2 articles have some bad and easy recognizable mistakes. Of course at the time of writing I was writing for the search engines to look at my keywords for ranking. As this was what every one was doing. But know, this is wrong as Google has changed its algorithms again.
So I do need to re-write for people to read.
So,all's cool.
Congrats on your article.

That would be an excellent series for the magazine for sure. That would sure be nice if they ran a series on it for a year.
Should boost there site and any sales if they put 1 state per month for your whole trip or something.
