I dont participate in auctions....yet, but, I used to work for an auction house as a "treasurehunter" !! It was the best job ever !! I went out with an estate sale crew. This crew did estate sales, auctions, and clean outs. They had a real-estate license, and were part of a large auction house also. We had spectacular storage units across Florida filled with estate sale finds....the really obvious good stuff was auctioned monthly. The trash was thrown out, other stuff went to garage sale people, and some was put to the curb for free. I helped with clean outs, and was lead treasure hunter. We used all means necessary in our hunts, and found fantastic stuff. I led the way through attics, crawl spaces, basements, secret rooms, closets and shelves and sliding door tracks....everything was searched and we used metal detectors, black lights, even a dog once in awhile. 3 separate times I found ammo cans.....there always was some good treasure in the ammo cans....most times. Multiple silver dollar and gold coin caches found in the ammo cans !! Everything from Elvis and star wars memorabilia, to jewlery and sports cards, to rare art and guns !! It was fantastic....day pay for heavy lifting, and split the treasure if possible some was given back to relatives, some we kept, some was auctioned, and some was yard saled the rest got tossed !!
