I'm not sure yet if it's silver or silver plated I will try and find out and let u know ! Thanks for the replies I appreciate them!!! The ground was frozen the day before but it warmed up to 40s yesterday and it unfroze which caused tremendous mud! Lol I don't know if it's silver here is the back side u can see silver under what appears to be bronze or just tarnish from age n wear I will try and clean it off afraid if it's silver plated to destroy plating I can't see any enscriptions but there could be

To find a silver shoe buckle is a personal mission of mine. I'm guessing I've found close to 30 shoe buckles and never so much as sniffed a little piece of a silver buckle. A huge congratulations to you for finding that beautiful early relic. I hope it's marked so you can learn as much as possible about it. That will make a killer display piece
