Awesome find today! Carved Colonial Ring

[CrazySlasher]

I hit a couple fields today that I have been to before but never found much and never put a lot of time into. The first field didn't produce much at all aside from the fob. The second field was at one point a Native-American village until the colonists set-up shop. The house next to the field is from the mid-1600's and saw action during King Phillip's War. This field also didn't produce much but the finds were worth it. A couple of musket balls (meh) and a this ring. I was pretty shocked when it popped up as I almost never find rings and I could tell it was quite old even before I cleaned it up. It's super heavy. I believe it's copper I took it over to my mother who used to work with jewelry and the only thing that she could tell me about it was that it was old and hand carved.

Sorry for the pictures, I'm not very good or used to take pictures of jewelry , so I tried to get as many as possible to show off the detail.

No idea. I don't know much about jewelry.

Does anyone have any insight on it?

Could it be bronze. It looks like some bronze things I've seen and found. Can anyone date this? nice, interesting find.

It very well could be. Bronze or copper.

Can't help... But very cool find!

I just had someone who owns a local junk yard look at it and they're almost 100% sure that it's copper.

Broad date range on these, I think 19th is more likely

My complete guess is Colonial for the ring.

The ring is awesome. You should post it on the 'what is it' forum and see what folks can find out about it.
