The boy and I hit a couple old yards today fighting snow still laying and frozen ground. At our first property it was my turn. I started off finding a couple wheats, old pocket knife and a unbroken harmonica reed.
We weren't finding much or were unable to dig so we started to leave when I got a good nickel/pull tab hit. I've dug so many of these hits just hoping I'd one day see my first gold.
Flipped a plug and there she laid, or so it looked. Took a couple pics and pulled her out. Pushed that ring plug out and cleaned it up a little, 10k gold!! Finally I find my first ever gold, Awesome!!
We left shortly after that and hit a second property. The boy's first find was a 1887 IH followed up with a 36 wheat and a small sweet flat button. The owner here said the yard had already been hit by several other guys.
It took me awhile before I found anything decent then I got a sweet silver hit. Flipped the plug and I find my first ever barber dime, a 1901.
My only other worthy finds was a small buckle and some mystery brass piece.
The boy and I played a role reversal when I found the 5 silver dimes a couple weeks ago. Our next hunt he found a couple large cents then the following hunt a silver quarter to my nothing.Guess our next hunt will be his turn again...

Thanks Msbeepbeep!!

We do make a pretty good team!! We loving digging up history and there is a little competition but, nothing beats hitting a yard together.
He kicked my butt last year but, so far this year I'm blowing him away. Lol

Oh my,, Very nice hunt my friend.

Oh the first gold ring! It is a total hobby changer. When you find that first gold ticket you transition from casual hobby to mind swimming addiction. Congrats!!!!
TFS and HH!

Congrats on the gold.

That is a really nice assortment of finds. You have one of everything! Good show.

Awesome finds bud! Big congrats on your first Barber and gold! You are having a killer year already, Keep it up! :icon_thumleft:

Thanks guys!!
Dave anything the rest of the year is a bonus!! Looking for that first gold was killing me.
Now I can relax and enjoy the hunt. Wait, I still have some bucket list finds I have to scratch off the list.lol
I never thought metal detecting could be so addictive.

What a wonderful hunt. You found one of everything. Congrats.

Wow! Congrats on lovely gold ring, really like the style of the band! :occasion16::wav::occasion16:

You two guys are amazing, & I look forward every time to reading about your hunts. If it's underground, you two will find it every time! In bad weather conditions like frozen ground, many would've gone home right after the gold find, but since you two toughed it out, you got the excellent Barber dime also! Have Fun! Andi

Thanks You Sir!!

Glad you enjoy hearing about our hunts!! We love to metal detect and find lost history, sharing it with others is the icing on the cake. We re-live our hunts all over again.
We just found an early colonial property and have been hitting it pretty good finding some old copper and buttons. With cold weather moving in on us we might get shut down for a bit. Lol

Thanks again!!
